It has been said that selling a home is like a full-time job in itself, as many, many hours are committed to the process. There’s paperwork, of course, as well as the need for marketing and advertising the home. And, a seller needs to know about legal issues, too.

One of the advantages of using a real estate agent to sell your home is he or she has access to technologies and knowledge about the market that the average person does not. For instance, a real estate agent can add a home into the “system” so that it can easily be found online by potential buyers.

An agent can also figure out the best possible price such that it sells and both the buyer and seller are happy. If you try selling your home on your own, you may underprice or overprice it, losing money and/or buyers.

An agent is a negotiator. If you’re not the type of person who has great negotiation skills, and you attempt to sell your home on your own, you may get taken advantage of. An agent knows how to “play the game,” and play it well.

During real estate transactions, there are a lot of details to consider, including lending requirement specifics, appraisals, and inspections. Are you prepared to handle those things on your own, or would a real estate agent be a great help?
